Los Angeles: Practice/Fun

June 15, 2014: Practice at Los Angeles: Oak Grove (Hahamongna Park)

My daughters and a friend and I visited the first course to ever have permanent trees. Horrible layout, no signs.  Very disappointing.

Review: Course located in park. Short Course with trees and other obstacles (posts). One hole is over a ravine full of bushes and small trees. Very difficult to find next hole as there are no signs, only numbers in concrete pads that may or may not point to basket.

From PDGA: "Multi-terrained, oak lined course. World's 1st permanent polehole course. Requires a wide range of shots. #6 is out part of the summer (a summer camp permits that area). The infamous "Spider" hole - a alternate hole - is inserted uphill of 4's fairway while #6 is out."

Give me my Rochester courses any day of the week at any season too!

Rochester: Practice at Basil

June 5, Basil Marella

Visited Basil Marella in evening with two friends. Disappointing, not much to report about.
Forehands were strong, a lot of tree crashes, occasionally a lucky shot through the trees.
(Basil demands a tilt to the grip for weaving through the lane). Backhands were short and low and mostly to the right (Innova Star). I am using Innova Dart more for medium to short approaches

Hole 14 is a short hole with the basket at the edge of a creek. I had the distance to waters edge, nice birdie opportunity, not but made. I think I missed another birdie opportunity too.
